Business Party

The principle design innovation of the KnowTech® Business Party is the recognition that companies and individuals have multiple roles when conducting business transactions with an organization. The nature of the business transaction determines the relationship of being a Vendor, a Customer, an Employee, a Contact, etc. This approach to the design has been further utilized in the treatment of Names and Addresses for a Business Party. Advantages of the KnowTech® Business Party include
  • One definition of a Business Party be it an Organization or an individual. Eliminate the need to join or search multiple tables based on the role of the business party. You still have the specific role based “lists” for the single purpose application uses.
  • A business party can have multiple roles. This virtually eliminates data duplication and inconsistencies between say, an Organization stored once as a Customer and then again as a Vendor.
  • A Business Party can have name changes over time. Multiple Names are also possible for say, Acronyms, Trade Names, etc. One Name must however, be designated as Primary and Active. Would it not be ideal to find the Business Party with any of the known names instead of the most current
  • A Business Party can have multiple usages for an address such as Head Office, Shipping, Receiving, Laboratory, etc. Why not search for the address and find out the usage instead of having to know the combination? You also get in the added benefit of ISO-3166 Country definitions and codes. Do you remember the most recent country name changes?
  • An Address may be the location for more than one Business Party. In a household, all the family members are at the same address. This again eliminates data duplication and reduces the effort in data entry.
  • A Business Party can have multiple methods of electronic contact such as telephone, both land and wireless, a fax and e-mail and whatever else that may come along.
  • Business Parties can have multiple relationships based on business roles and activities. An individual can be an employee, shareholder, director, etc. Companies can be partners, joint ventures with varying share/ownership ratios.
  • How many times has it occurred that a new attribute needs to be captured for a Business Party? With KnowTech® Business Party, you no longer need to worry about unforeseen data elements; just define the attribute of interest and it is available immediately, with built-in history capability.

Asset Management

KnowTech® Asset provides the ability for full cycle Asset Management. The cycle starts with identifying an Asset (anything of value to the Business) and ends with the Asset Disposal. The value of the application is ability to track the usage of the Asset during its life with the Organization. This Assignment of the Asset may be through an Agreement such as a Lease or a simple allocation of an Asset say, a Computer to an Employee. An Asset maybe assigned for any time period. An Agreement may also be based on a Fee Structure, which can be modified over time. Historical Fees are not affected by changes to the Fee Structure.
  •  A single point of reference for all assets. An asset can be anything of value to an organization; for example Office Space, Computer equipment, Furniture, Buildings, Art Objects, plants, shrubs, ceremonial routes, etc.
  • An Asset can be part of one or many hierarchical structures. Search can be from any point in the hierarchy.

  • A Business Party through an Agreement, which may be formal such as a lease, can utilize an Asset or informal as in equipment allocated to an employee.

Agreement

The KnowTech® Agreement is a solution for Organizations whose business it is to enter into agreements with other parties, be they companies or individuals, for the right to perform any of the regulated activities for which the Organization is charged with enforcement. The innovative approach in the development of KnowTech® Agreement was the recognition that

  (a) Companies and Individuals (Business Party) have multiple roles when conducting business transactions with an organization

  (b) The Organization manages Assets and its utilization through Agreements with Business Parties

  (c) The nature of the agreement is a permission or the granting of a privilege for which a fee may become payable either as a lump sum at the start or over a series of payments at pre-defined periods

  (d) There is an inherent renewal component to any agreement

  (e) The fee structure, if applicable, will change over time

It is the nature of the business of the Organization that will term an Agreement a License, Permit, Lease, etc.

Lookup/Reference Tables

Data consistency is maintained using a standard set of values for the inevitable descriptors. The Lookup Model allows for unlimited Levels of Lookup hierarchy and supports any number of languages.

Key Benefits

  • Implementation based on Views providing simple means of extending Lookups.
  • Allows for language dependent abbreviation (British Columbia (BC) and Columbie Britanique (CB) are both allowed and refer to the same data item.
  • Location Definitions can be local place names, Country, Province/State, Municipality, Postal Code, etc. Users can define their own location for grouping other values.

Health Care

Solution for a HealthCare Facility starts with the identification of the involved party (individual or organization) and their business role (Doctor, Nurse, Patient, Hospital, etc) with respect to the facility. Other Facilities may also be associated as appropriate. For example, a Doctor may practice at other Facilities and there may be a specific facility for specialized treatments.

Patient Disease Identification is with respect to the ICD Codes. Treatments given a Patient are recorded as well as the Outcomes including any adverse reactions. The HealthCare Practitioner associated with each treatment and diagnosis is also recorded.

The KnowTech® HealthCare Management Solution is designed so that it is possible to obtain information to make policy decisions such as effect of treatments for the old age. Dimensional Analysis is available for Location, Health Effects (Disease/Injury), Age and Gender. Selection criteria are user definable and may be combined with those established by others.

  • Disease Definitions based on the ICD Series Standards. Currently we have Series7, 8, 9 available.
  • Identify Self-defined Disease Groupings and perform searches to assist in Epidemiological Research.
